Rev. Petrutiu Family Naturalization Ceremony
WESTLAND, MI - On Sunday, December 15, in the presence of His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas, a unique event occurred at the Sts. Constantine and Helen Parish in Westland, Michigan. Following the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, Fr. Teodor Petrutiu and his wife, Presbytera Roxana, took the U.S. Citizenship Oath of Allegiance in front of the congregation. The couple shared this precious moment with their two daughters born in the U.S.A., Nicole 9 and Irene 7.
In a historic precedent, U.S. District Court Judge Sean Cox administered the oath after giving a brief speech on the importance of this event in the lives of so many immigrants, including his own family. Also attending were judges: Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Gregory Bill, Family Court Judge Eric Cholack and Plymouth 35th District Court Judge James Plakas who are also members of this community.
